ROME--Assicurazioni Generali SpA said its chief financial officer and general manager, Alberto Minali, has agreed to leave the Italian insurer.

Europe's third largest insurer said Luigi Lubelli, head of corporate finance, will succeed Mr. Minali as chief financial officer.

Generali Chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola thanked Mr. Minali "for his great contribution to the Generali group over the years."

The news comes after Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo SpA said it is assessing a potential tie-up with Generali.
