Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA said Thursday a compressor unexpectedly shut down at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.

"The Wet Gas Compressor at the Unit 860 unexpectedly shut down (i.e. tripped) due to low pressure on the Lube Oil System," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, adding that it sent the process gases to the flare gas recovery system and was "restarting the Wet Gas Scrubber as soon as possible."

The refinery said the emissions began Thursday morning and lasted less than an hour. The 225,000-barrel-a-day refinery is located east of Houston.
