Italy’s gambling market is one that has posted quite a few challenges to local operators. Yet, the established gambling companies continue to maintain a strong presence, and results continue to climb up.

Earlier in 2020, Italy summed up the growth of the market, reporting a growth to €1.73 billion in 2019, or a 13.3% year-over-year growth. Interestingly, gambling expansion has continued well throughout last year, despite a blanket ban on all advertising, which some feared would sap the industry.

While Italy has continued ramping-up anti-gambling measures, the leading Italian iGaming companies have remained compliant with new regulation and as the latest numbers show, entirely competitive.

 

Sisal Group SpA (sisal.it)

Sisal calls itself the first and foremost Italian gaming company, serving countrymen and women since 1946 and having evolved to expand on the iGaming market and sports verticals since the arrival of the online gaming industry.

Today, Sisal caters to 6.8 million customers in the country and owns 39,000 retail points in the country along with a gross turnover estimated at €9.8 billion, a sizeable and impressive number by any standard.

Sisal has a cemented presence in the Italian market, thanks to its omni-channel approach and multi-vertical expertise, including segments such as lotteries, betting, online gaming, gaming machines and points of sale.

Apart from this, the company offers aggregation services, allowing partners such as third-party suppliers to enter the Italian market and deliver a best-in-class experience to consumers across multiple verticals.

Sisal has been innovating in the iGaming market for Italians by striking partnerships with payment processors and iGaming suppliers to enhance the overall customer satisfaction and delivering a leading product.

 

Microgame S.p.A. (microgame.it)

Microgame S.p.A. remains a leading provider of gaming services in Italy. It has managed to establish a strong presence in the market. The company has a well-rounded expertise that runs in several main vertical, including affiliates, players, distribution networks, and gaming operators.

The company offers bespoke gaming platforms empowering cross-selling, fast integration of new products, and multi-brand support. With a clear B2B focus, Microgame’s solutions are some of the best on the market and approved by the Italian Gaming Authority (ADM).

Microgame represents 80 brands and has partnerships with 40 dealers to power 650,000 consumer accounts and facilitate over 160 million transactions a year, bringing a unique twist to the Italian gaming market.

The company is estimated to generate $28.55 million in sales as of 2019 and employees 115 people today.

 

Snaitech spa (snai.it)

Snaitech is another well-established name on the Italian market and reviewed on numerous sites such as NuoviCasino.it, with a reach and significance that make it a sizeable name in the iGaming and betting industries in the country.

Today, the company has 1,584 points of sale, and 38,600 slot machines, along with 10,600 video lottery terminals. Snaitech has a strong presence in iGaming, but the company’s key expertise lies in the sports betting market.

In September, 2020, the company posted impressive results, beating all competition that month on both the online and retail sector. In that month, Snaitech led the market with 16% of all sports betting handle placed in Italy.

The company continues to grow both inside and outside the country, establishing a strong reputation for quality betting experience, with a touch of iGaming.

 

Bwin (giocodigitale.it)

Gioco Digitale is a licensed provider of iGaming solutions on the territory of Italy, licensed by the regulatory authority, the Italian Gaming Authority (ADM). Bwin Italia s.r.l. is a GVC Holdings PLC entity listed on the London Stock Exchange and operating on the territory of the country through Gioco Digitale, which was acquired by the former in 2009.

Bwin has a sizeable exposure on the Italian market today, advancing not only as an iGaming platform, but also as a provider of sports betting solutions. The company has several ties to the sports sector, notwithstanding sponsorships of individual teams.

The company has sponsored Serie B, Italy’s Second Division football competition and was an official sponsor for Italian football club Milan from 2006-2010. Today, Bwin’s exposure on the Italian market includes multiple products, including but not limited to poker, slotjava slot, bingo, jackpot mania, casino live, and scratch cards.

 

Lottomatica (lottomatica.it)

Lottomatica is a subsidiary of International Game Technology (IGT) and specializes in providing lottery products on the Italian market, and is the most successful operator to do so. The company realizes $1.32 billion in revenue every year and employees a staggering 1,700 employees.

The company specializes in a range of solutions, including skill games, bingo, soft games, poker, scratch cards and lottery products. Lottomatica is operated by LOTTOMATICA HOLDING SRL and holds a license from the Agenzia de Game Monopoli (ADM).

Most recently, Lottomatica remained third in terms of real market share value with 7.9% of the total casino revenue generated in September, 2020. Lottomatica trailed behind Flutter Entertainment and Sisal, and remains a leading provider of iGaming products in the country.
