US mortgage applications dropped in the last week

In the US, mortgage applications recorded a drop of 2.20% on a weekly basis in the week ended 15 November 2019. In the previous week, mortgage applications had climbed 9.60%.

FOMC minutes: Fed officials to maintain current interest rate for near term

The minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) October meeting showed that most officials were of the opinion to maintain current interest rate level provided that the economic condition remain constant. Further, the FOMC members continued to be optimistic over the course of its monetary policy as it supported the prospects for moderate growth, strong labour market as well as its 2.0% inflation target.

Canadian CPI rose as expected in October

In Canada, the consumer price index (CPI) registered a rise of 0.30% on a MoM basis in October, compared to a drop of 0.40% in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the CPI to rise 0.30%.
