German trade surplus widened in May
In Germany, seasonally adjusted trade surplus widened to €7.60 billion in May, following a revised trade surplus of €3.40 billion in the previous month. Markets were expecting the nation to register a trade surplus of €5.20 billion.
German current account surplus narrowed in May
In Germany, non-seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to €6.50 billion in May, compared to a current account surplus of €9.10 billion in the previous month.
US number of initial jobless claims fell in the week ended 3 July 2020
In the US, the seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims dropped to a level of 1314.00 K in the week ended 3 July 2020, compared to a revised reading of 1413.00 K in the prior week. Market anticipations were for the number of initial jobless claims to ease to a level of 1375.00 K.
US wholesale inventories fell in May
In the US, wholesale inventories registered a drop of 1.20% on a MoM basis in May, compared to a revised 0.20% in the previous month. The preliminary figures had also recorded a drop of 1.20%.
