GM Outlines New Environmental Sustainability Goals

General Motors Co. on Friday released it 11th annual
sustainability report and outlined new sustainability goals.
The company said its new goals include reducing operational
energy intensity by 35% by 2035 against a 2010 baseline, and
achieving greater than 90% waste diversion from landfills and
incineration globally by 2025.
GM said it wants to make making packaging that is 100%
returnable or made from majority sustainable content by 2030.
The company said it is seeking to have 100% of its targeted Tier
1 suppliers enrolled in its supplier sustainability program.
GM also said it continues to work toward previously announced
goals, including sourcing 100% renewable electricity globally by
2035 and 100% in the U.S. by 2030; reducing operational water
intensity by 35% by 2035 against a 2010 baseline; and striving for
at least 50% sustainable material content in its vehicles by
2030.
