Assicurazioni Generali SpA (G.MI) net profit for the first nine months of the year rose sharply boosted by growing operating results and some disposals, it said Thursday.

Net profit for the period rose 27% to 1.86 billion euros ($2.13 billion), the Italian insurer said.

Gross written premiums rose 6.1% on year to EUR49.73 billion.

Operating income grew 3.9% as its property and casualty business, as well as the life segment, reported increases.

"With these strong results, we are ready to present the new three-year strategic plan, focused on continued growth, transformation, and the creation of sustainable value for all of our stakeholders," Chief Financial Officer Cristiano Borean said.
