Amazon.com Inc. said it is seeking to hire more than 40,000 corporate and technology roles at about 220 U.S. locations on its recruiting day Sept. 15, continuing the e-commerce giant's hiring spree.

The Seattle-based company on Wednesday said it also plans to hire tens of thousands of hourly positions in its operations network. Amazon said it has hired more than 450,000 people in the U.S. since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company employed about 1.3 million full- and part-time employees globally as of the end of last year, according to a securities filing.

Amazon said attendees at its career-day event can participate in one of more than 20,000 career-coaching sessions with a company recruiter. It said it is also offering career-coaching sessions for Amazon employees looking to grow their careers internally or elsewhere.

On Wednesday, the company also said it is hosting its first career-day event in Canada on Sept. 15. It said there are more than 1,800 corporate and technology roles currently available in the country.
