Facebook Inc. (FB) released a September 2015 document that includes employee discussions of data scraping and Cambridge Analytica, and said the document "has the potential to confuse two different events surrounding our knowledge of Cambridge Analytica."

Facebook deputy general counsel Paul Grewal said in a blog post the company is "agreeing with the District of Columbia Attorney General to jointly make public" the document.

Mr. Grewal said that "unconfirmed reports of scraping" and policy violations by an app developer who sold user data to Cambridge Analytica are "two distinct issues."

The document includes discussions about topics like creating a "description of what we allow with respect to third party data collection and use."
