$AMC also has less debt per screen and more income per screen as well
Message in reply to:
remember, AMC is global, Cinemark is not global
AMC has theaters in Europe
the US box office numbers are basically the same as last year for 3rd quarter with which, AMC earned .08 per share
there were less releases though last year therefore, possibly harder to meet food sales goals yet they did
in 2024, there is more diversity of films, therefore less reliance on one or two huge movies like in 2023 (Barbie and Oppenheimer), neither of which were really kids movies, like Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2 which will usually lead to higher concessions figures

Between Inside out 2, despicable me 4, Twisters, Deadpool and Wolverine, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and It ends with Us, and Alien Romulus, they sold plenty of concessions.
More releases, even if slightly lower box office numbers can lead to higher concessions, sounds wonky but it can happen
AMC keeps adding IMAX an DOLBY screens, higher price, more profit
and The Wild Robot opens this weekend, last weekend of 3rd Qtr and it is basically 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and is stunning animation. It should do well amongst all ages

If I were homeless, going to the movies would be a place to go...LOL. One way to get a couple hours rest without getting harassed. May not be able to afford the refreshments because of high costs.
Seriously though, I haven't stepped foot into a movie theatre since 1960's thru 1970's, and even then it was a rarity. Even way more expensive today than back then. Way more cheaper go to the store and buy my goodies, stay home, pop my own corn, and watch movies from my much more relaxing chair or couch. And, I don't have to be bothered by anyone...LOL

In Denver, the Chez Artiste theater closed by surprise, and tearfully after 52 years just last month. Times are changin', and now with Covid on the rise again, it is getting too hard for many of our old traditional venues. AMC needs to BK and mop up the debt and recapitalize, and bury the Apes, still clutching their worthless shares. With AA "The Genius" they just might survive.
