Transense Technologies said Monday that a license extension to GE for its Surface Acoustic Wave, or SAW, torque sensor technology generated a nominal additional license fee.

The London-listed specialist sensor-systems provider said the extension was expected to open opportunities to provide technical support to GE and its affiliates. This is due to the extension allowing for the technology to be used by GE Aerospace on a next-generation commercial fan motor aircraft engine.

"This is an exciting further step towards wider future adoption of our SAW technology in the commercial aerospace sector following its selection for military use in GE's T901 engine... We are confident of further success in this important target market, which is engaged in rapid innovation to meet the challenging sustainability demands of a changing world," the company said.
