General Motors Co. on Tuesday said it is tweaking its prior plans for in-person work.

The automotive company doesn't plan to mandate which days its employees will spend on-campus and that any in-person work requirements won't begin before the first quarter of next year, a spokesperson confirmed to Dow Jones Newswires.

The decision comes after the GM said on Friday that corporate workers would be required to return to physical locations at least three days a week later this year, according to CNBC.

"Our plan was always, and still is, to collaboratively design the solution that best balances the needs of the enterprise with the needs of each of you," said Tuesday's memo, which was signed by Chief Executive Mary Barra and other executives, according to CNBC, which it said it has viewed.
