Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) wants to hear from Keith Gill.

The chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing (https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/amc-gamestop-stock-market-updates/card/OtHyWRBe8v3uwIHgJfsj) Feb. 18 on the frenzied trading action inspired by social media last month.

Among the people she wants to hear testify: Mr. Gill, the Reddit user and investor whose eye-popping bets on GameStop Corp. (https://www.wsj.com/articles/keith-gill-drove-the-gamestop-reddit-mania-he-talked-to-the-journal-11611931696) captivated the WallStreetBets forum, infuriated hedge funds and left lawmakers bewildered.

"I have him on my list to be present," Ms. Waters said in a Wednesday interview with financial news streaming service Cheddar. "They have not confirmed all of my list yet but I want him. I want him here."

Ms. Waters added she also hopes to hear from leaders at Robinhood Markets Inc. and GameStop.
