SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. said Wednesday its joint venture has been awarded a $300 million contract to provide engineering and technical services to the National Flood Insurance Program in the western U.S.

The Montreal-based professional-services and project-management company said the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract is for five years through its STARR II joint venture, and will support the Federal Emergency Management Agency's risk mapping, assessment and planning program.

The company said it has been providing these services to FEMA since 2014.

"Services provided under the contract will include regional flood hazard mapping and risk management required to develop accurate flood hazard data that will increase risk awareness and facilitate local mitigation actions that reduce loss to life and property," the company said.
