SSE to Pay Fine for Missing Smart-Meter Target

SSE PLC (SSE.LN) will pay a 700,000 pounds ($915,093) fine for
missing its 2018 target for installing smart meters for gas
customers, energy regulator Ofgem said Wednesday.
Energy suppliers are required by the U.K. government to roll out
smart meters to all homes and small businesses by the end of
2020.
SSE won't face any formal enforcement action, Ofgem said.
