Sale of Syria licence
Bartercard has sold the licence for Syria. The licence was sold for US$450,000
cash to Mamoun Mahrat, the holder of the licence for Jordan. He and his family
have extensive business interests and experience throughout the middle east
Bartercard already has licences operating in the UAE, Lebanon, Qatar, Egypt,
Jordan, and Kuwait as well as Cyprus and Turkey, nearby. Last week Bartercard
announced the sale of the Saudi Arabian licence.
In addition to the initial licence fee, Bartercard PLC receives between 6% and
8% of trading transaction fees from all international licencees.
Wayne Sharpe, Chairman of Bartercard, commented:
"I am delighted that the owner of the Jordanian licence has enjoyed such success
there that he has bought the licence to Syria. Our growing network of offices in
the middle east is likely to produce substantially more international trade in
coming years, on which Bartercard generates revenue over and above its service
licence fees."
