BT Group PLC's network-infrastructure arm Openreach said Friday
that it expects to create around 5,300 new U.K.-based engineering
jobs as part of its full-fiber broadband rollout program.
Openreach said the expansion includes more than 2,500 full-time
jobs at its own divisions and an estimated 2,800 positions in its
U.K. supply chain. The new jobs will be filled during 2021, the
company said.
Openreach said its broadband program aims to reach 20 million
homes and businesses by the mid-to-late 2020s.
The company also said it has committed to upgrade its commercial
fleet of 27,00 vehicles to be electric by 2030.
