09 June 2005
Compact Power Holdings plc announces that it expects its results for the year
ended 31 March 2005 to be in line with market expectations.
The plant at Avonmouth is now operating consistently with a reasonable
expectation that the fee payable to Compact Power for operating the plant will
generate a modest contribution for the Company in the current year. Substantive
progress is being made on the proposed new 32,000 tonnes a year plant at
Avonmouth, with planning permission obtained and terms agreed in principle with
Bristol City Council for a project to use the plant to demonstrate the
technology on municipal solid waste. DEFRA has designated the Company with
Bristol City Council as preferred bidders for funding under the New Technologies
Demonstrator Programme for this project.
Negotiations to secure the funding for the new plant are progressing
satisfactorily. If secured, the margin on the plant is expected to provide
additional working capital for the Company. Until such time cash resources
remain tight with funding currently being provided by the loan from the
Company's largest shareholder, Cooper Holdings Limited.
Other pipeline projects are also continuing to move forward, albeit slowly.
