Glencore PLC said Monday that it will partner with China Huaneng Group Co. to develop a carbon capture utilization and storage project in Australia.

The London-listed natural resources company said the project will implement China Huaneng's technology at the Millmerran coal power station to capture carbon dioxide and store it in a non-potable aquifer.

Glencore and China Huaneng signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the deployment of CCUS technology on Saturday, as part of the China International Conference on CO2 Capture Utilization and Storage.
