ADR Shares End Mostly Lower; Zai Lab, HSBC Trade Actively

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower
Thursday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts
closed 0.3% lower at 144.99. The European index fell 0.5% to
139.56. The Latin American index rose 2.9% to 180.75. The
emerging-markets index also increased 0.6% to 286.22. The Asian
index decreased 0.4% to 170.01.
The ADRs of Zai Lab Ltd. and HSBC Holdings PLC traded
actively.
ADRs of Zai Lab on Thursday closed higher after the company said
its study in non-small cell lung cancer with Novocure Ltd. met its
primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant and
clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival over standard
therapies alone.
ADRs of HSBC Holdings PLC also closed higher following
Jefferies's analyst note on the bank's capital return prospects and
positive gearing to China's reopening being underappreciated.
