Intandem Films Plc, the London based international film group, is pleased to
announce that it has been appointed as the international sales company for new
dark romantic comedy "Ecstasy". The film is based on the controversial book
"Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance" by Irvine Welsh and was a number one
bestseller in over 20 countries.
The addition of this movie brings Intandem's slate up to 31 films under
management and further builds on an exciting portfolio for 2011.
"Ecstasy"is the follow up to Welsh's first book, "Trainspotting", which was
voted one of the Ten Best Books of the Century by Waterstones. "Trainspotting",
starring Ewan McGregor, was produced on a budget of US$3.5 million and grossed
over US$72 million, making it the most profitable film in 1996.
The US$5 million budget movie, "Ecstasy", directed by Rob Heydon, begins
shooting in Canada on 6th December and stars Kristin Kreuk (star of Smallville)
and Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander).
Commenting, Andrew Brown, Director of Intandem, said:
"We are delighted to be working with Rob Heydon and his experienced team on this
darkly comic tale. Irvine Welsh has an amazing pedigree as an author and after
the massive global success of the movie of "Trainspotting" we are very excited
to be partnering with the team to bring another of Welsh's globally successful
books to the big screen".
