ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VanDyke Software®,
a developer of multi-platform secure file transfer and secure
terminal emulation software, today announced the beta release of
VShell® 4.4 Server for Windows. VShell 4.4 (Beta) introduces
HTTPS support, giving organizations the ability to deploy a
browser-based, secure file transfer solution for employees and
external customers.
"Many of our customers need the additional flexibility of a file
transfer option that doesn't require the use of a client-side
software application," said Danielle
Argiro, Product Director for VShell. "With VShell 4.4 (Beta)
with HTTPS, end users can now connect to VShell using their
Internet browser to view folder contents as well as upload and
download files. This eliminates a significant amount of training
and administrative overhead since no client software or special
plugins are needed. File transfer can also be automated using HTTPS
command-line tools such as cURL."
VShell delivers strong, multi-protocol security for data in
transit, giving you fine-grained control over end user access to
data on your system. The VShell virtual root capability lets you
"lock down" users and groups so they can only see the folders on
your file system that you allow them to see. It also lets you
specify whether or not they can perform specific operations such as
deleting files or directories.
In addition to giving you control over data access, VShell
offers a variety of other benefits. Triggers allow you to automate
data and business processing; you can configure VShell to run
commands/scripts or move, copy, or transfer files in response to
user operations such as file upload. Logging and real-time
monitoring support corporate security requirements and regulatory
compliance. VShell also allows you to thwart brute force
attacks by configuring it to add IP addresses to a denied host list
after a certain number of authentication failures in a particular
amount of time.
Adding HTTPS to the file transfer protocols already supported by
VShell (SFTP, FTPS, and SCP) expands the use of VShell to
non-technical end users, while still providing advanced security
options.
