Daimler AG's (DAI.XE) Mercedes-Benz said late Friday that it plans to establish an assembly plant for Mercedes-Benz cars in Egypt.

The project will be in cooperation with a local business partner.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said he welcomed the decision.
