Hosting more than 400 guests, One Mind raised $3.3 million on
September 9 at One Mind’s 29th Annual Music Festival for Brain
Health, presented by Bank of America. The annual event is one of
America’s most important fundraising events focused on mental
illnesses. The festival, which includes a world-class wine tasting
and culinary experience, a groundbreaking Science and Innovation
Symposium, and an exclusive performance from country superstar
Martina McBride, benefits One Mind™ and its mission to catalyze
visionary change through science, business and media to transform
the world’s mental health.
U.S. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi was introduced by Congressman
Mike Thompson, and heralded One Mind and the Staglin family’s
commitment to tackling the nation’s most pressing crisis - mental
health. She shared her belief that music brings us together to
support this important cause
In its nearly 30 years of fundraising leadership with add-on
partners, One Mind is proud to have directly raised more than $115
million and, more importantly, has seen its investments in science,
media and workplace solutions grow exponentially to more than $575
million in total funding through its significant
collaborations.
The Science & Innovation Symposium is made possible by
Rogers Behavioral Health. Generous support for the symposium’s
Rising Star Awards comes from the Deyo and Luther families, as well
as the Hall family with support from the Goodness Web. This year’s
concert is supported by JaM Cellars. This year’s gourmet dinner is
sponsored by Mati Kochavi.
“The momentum continues to grow along with our success in
understanding and caring for mental health conditions,” said
Brandon Staglin, president of One Mind. “The research we
have funded over the years is now rolling out solutions to
transform lives. We’re accelerating a future where everyone facing
mental health challenges has the chance to thrive!”
The day-long festival began with the Science & Innovation
Symposium that included One Mind’s 2023 Rising Star
Awards, who presented their groundbreaking research. The
Rising Star Awards are awarded each year to early-career scientists
leading pivotal, innovative research to develop better treatments
for mental illnesses. At the annual Music Festival, these
researchers have a chance to present directly to those supporting
the funding of their ongoing studies.
Additionally, the Symposium featured keynote speaker Steve
Paul, M.D., CSO & President of Research and Development at
Karuna Therapeutics, and the entrepreneurs of the One Mind
Accelerator. This intensive program launched by One Mind this
year aiding 11 founders to rapidly build and scale early-stage
startups developing real-world solutions to improve the lives of
people facing mental health conditions. An investment of $100,000
for each company was also provided by One Mind.
This year’s Music Festival for Brain Health featured
award-winning country singer/songwriter Martina McBride. The
mental health advocate has earned over 15 major music awards,
including four wins for Female Vocalist of the Year from the
Country Music Association and three Academy of Country Music for
Top Female Vocalist. The Nashville native also founded Team Music
is Love, a non-profit that supports an array of social issues like
domestic violence, food insecurity, and homelessness. Her 90-minute
performance had patrons on their feet dancing and singing along
with her grammy-award winning hits.
“I’m honored to be performing at this year's One Mind Music
Festival. The work One Mind is doing to help those facing brain
health challenges is crucial. It’s important we shine more light on
mental health issues in our country and work towards helping those
struggling,” said Martina McBride.
In addition to the intimate live concert, the day included a
globally renowned wine-tasting reception paired with bites provided
by award-winning Chef Ken Frank, Executive Chef and Owner of
La Toque, caviar provided by Caviar Russe, and an exclusive gourmet
culinary experience under the stars at the VIP Dinner featuring
James Beard Semifinalist Cassidee Dabney, Executive Chef of
The Barn at Blackberry Farm. The enthusiasm of the guests at a
Fund-a-Need at dinner contributed $1.5 million of the total
raised.
