German flagship airline Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE) isn't in talks about acquiring Skandinavian competitor SAS AB (SAS.SK), Chief Executive Wolfgang Mayrhuber said Thursday.

"There are no talks," Mayrhuber told reporters at the company's annual press conference in Frankfurt.

SAS has previously said it would be open for an purchase by another airline or a merger with a competitor, as the deterioration of trading conditions in the aviation industry make it difficult to survive on a stand-alone basis.
