Macquarie Harbour To Process Aluminum Salt Slag With Alcoa
December 20 2009 - 6:22PM
Dow Jones News
Macquarie Harbour Mining Ltd. (MHM.AU) said Monday it has
finalized an agreement to process aluminum salt slag with Alcoa
Inc. (AA).
The three-year contract covers 33,000 to 39,000 metric tons of
material to be processed, and for a payment of A$300 per ton.
The aluminum salt slag is a waste stream resulting from the
recycling of aluminum traditionally placed in landfill.
Due to regulatory changes, this material can no longer be
disposed in landfill.
Earlier this month, Macquarie Harbour Mining 's wholly-owned
subsidiary Alreco Pty. Ltd. said it had agreed to acquire
associated plant and equipment and underlying land and buildings
from Sims Aluminium Pty. Ltd.
