guidance for parents seeking to raise respectful, accountable, and

lessons imparted by his parents through the lens of faith and
biblical principles, author Robert K. Auten Jr. has released
his new book, "Lessons from My Father and Mother: The Triune
Relationship of God with My Father and Mother."
Structured in two parts, the book navigates through the specific
teachings and experiences derived from his mother and father,
connecting these lessons to a broader understanding of God's
guidance and the triune relationship between God, father, and
mother.
"I wrote this book to share how the Lord, through my parents,
guided me to recognize my weaknesses, build character, and navigate
the paths I was meant to follow and avoid," Auten said. "These
experiences have shaped who I am today."
The first of the book recounts the wisdom and values instilled
by Auten's mother, Alyce Dorothy Owens
Auten. Through various vignettes, he shares topics such as
love's connection to maturity, the nature of human weaknesses,
societal challenges faced by Black youth, and principles of respect
and self-control. The second half shifts to the teachings of
Auten's father, Robert Keith Auten,
where he discusses lessons he learned about discipline, integrity,
and grace, offering insights on handling relationships, financial
stewardship, and personal accountability. At the end of each
vignette, he shares his personal takeaways from each lesson.
Drawing from his own experiences, Auten encourages readers to
reflect on how they influence the children in their care. He urges
parents to recognize each child's individuality and provide
tailored wisdom, guidance, and direction. He emphasizes the
importance of early intervention in addressing problematic
behaviors and fostering self-control.

About the author
Robert K. Auten Jr. has been a
committed Christian for more than 50 years. He serves as a teacher,
mentor, and leader in his church's annual eight-month Boys Rites of
Passage Program. Auten has more than 40 years of experience in the
aerospace and space industries as a design engineer, program
manager, product team director, and consultant for some of the
nation's highest-priority satellites, sensors, and payloads. Early
in his career, he was an adjunct assistant professor of engineering
at California State University, Long
Beach. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical
engineering from Santa Clara University
and a Master of Science from Loyola Marymount
University.
