Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX:IIP), a leading
provider of performance-based routing solutions over the Internet,
today announced that it has extended its IP footprint via a new
data center in the greater Los Angeles area operated by 365 Main,
Inc. The additional 7,500 square feet of colocation helps Internap
meet the needs of an increasing number of large bandwidth customers
within the market. The move also allows the Atlanta-based company
to offer more customers its bundled colocation and Performance
IP(TM) services. Currently over 90% of customers located in
Internap data centers purchase its IP services, which routes data
across the optimal path using up to eight major Internet backbones.
This extension complements 13 other Internap service points in
California. Located in 365 Main's new El Segundo data center,
Internap's newest service point features Tier IV power, cooling,
security and connectivity for computing environments and is
certified to high industry standards and compliance requirements.
The fully redundant data center also allows Internap to offer a
high-density solution to customers with increased computing power
demands, including customers requiring IP solutions capable of
handling 10 Gbps throughput. The scalable solution lets high
bandwidth customers, such as e-commerce and large content
providers, add capacity at-will. "California is home to a number of
companies that deploy bandwidth intensive applications like
streaming media, gaming and peer-to-peer networks. Extending our
footprint allows businesses in the area to take advantage of
Internap as an alternative provider for fast, reliable
connectivity," said Bob Smith, chief marketing officer, Internap.
"Internap's extension also helps us meet the growing bandwidth
demands of our existing customers, particularly those that require
a high performance IP solution that optimizes latency-sensitive
applications, such as voice and video." Performance IP services
turned up through the new facility will include Internap's
signature 24x7x365 Network Operations Center support, as well as
the company's industry-leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for
100% network availability. About Internap Internap is a market
leader of intelligent route control solutions that bring
