Business Wire
National Lampoon, Inc. (NYSE Alternext US: NLN), the most widely
recognized brand in comedy, announced today that it has acquired
JerkassClothing.com, a company specializing in youth and college
oriented t-shirts. This is the first e-commerce site acquired by
the company, and follows a string of online acquisitions by
National Lampoon. The acquisition of JerkassClothing.com also
represents National Lampoons new push into branded apparel and
merchandise, and will help the company leverage its brand into
merchandise sales worldwide. JerkassClothing.com will now be the
primary retailer--both bricks and mortar or web based--to carry
National Lampoon branded clothing. We are always looking to expand
our business, revenue, and brand in innovative new ways, said
National Lampoon Chief Executive Officer Daniel Laikin. The
acquisition of JerkassClothing.com gives National Lampoon another
way online to potentially generate substantial revenue, while
connecting with our audience. The Jerkass Clothing Company is
based in Milwaukee and was created in 2005 by Richard Lorbach. He
started the company by designing and printing shirts locally before
taking the business online and offering the t-shirts worldwide. The
company currently produces over 100 designs in styles including
Coast to Coast State Slogans, Too Cool For School, and Vintage
Tavern Tees. They will now create a new line for National Lampoon
themed merchandise. We are great fans of National Lampoon and are
thrilled to be able to bring its unique blend of humor to the
marketplace. We think the shirts will be very popular with the
college crowd and beyond, said Lorbach. This follows the
acquisitions by National Lampoon of DrunkUniversity.com,
CollegeHangover.com, and Comedy Express, and the more recent
acquisitions of AllModelZone.com and ZingFu.com. These acquisitions
reinforce the companys strategy of building niche and branded
online networks, with a focus on owning a significant portion of
the sites and traffic. The companys current online networks
include the National Lampoon Humor Network, the Drunk University
Network and the ZAZ Network with plans in place to expand to
additional verticals and increase traffic, affiliates, impressions,
and advertising revenue. About National Lampoon National Lampoon,
