The Company was informed on 3 September, 2003 by Standard Life Investments
("Standard Life") that, on 2 September 2003, Standard Life bought 50,393
ordinary shares of 12.5p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") on behalf of
Standard Life Group and, as a result, now has an interest in 2,812,625 Ordinary
Shares, representing 10.2 per cent. of the Company's issued ordinary share
capital. This interest is registered under Stanlife Nominees Limited.
