MPLS VPN now available in Charleston, Conway, Florence, Myrtle
Beach and surrounding areas CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 28
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US LEC Corp. (NASDAQ:CLEC), a full
service provider of IP, data and voice solutions to businesses and
enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States,
today announced the expansion of its MPLS VPN advanced data
networking service across the South Carolina Lowcountry, including
Charleston, Conway, Florence, Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas.
"US LEC's expansion of MPLS VPN throughout the Lowcountry nearly
completes the roll-out of this IP-based product throughout our
Eastern U.S. footprint," said Chuck Flaherty, regional vice
president for US LEC. "MPLS VPN provides multi-location businesses
that utilize data connectivity, a cost-effective and reliable
option to connect many locations with a single, flexible network."
US LEC now offers the scalability and security of MPLS VPN in all
major Carolina business centers and their surrounding areas,
including Asheville, Charleston, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Columbia,
Durham, Greensboro, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Raleigh, Spartanburg,
Wilmington and Winston-Salem. US LEC MPLS VPN provides a robust
data networking solution for businesses that require data
networking to connect multiple locations and need to carry traffic
such as Internet access, critical business applications such as
Customer Resource Management applications and enterprise-wide or
inter-office VoIP calling. US LEC's MPLS VPN offers several
critical advantages over traditional services including a
fully-meshed and routed network and the prioritization of specific
application traffic such as VoIP. The service can be scaled from
fractional T1 speeds below 1.5 Megabits per second (Mbs) to DS3 (45
Mbs) to Ethernet Local Loop. US LEC offers both metro and wide-area
networking options that allow customers to connect locally within a
metro area or across large geographic distances. US LEC's MPLS VPN
service supports quality of service (QoS) guarantees, enabling the
prioritization of traffic according to customer requirements.
Priority traffic travels over available bandwidth first; then, as
prioritized traffic decreases, all other traffic uses available
bandwidth, ensuring full optimization. Since MPLS VPN is scalable,
customers only buy the bandwidth required, reducing unnecessary
costs. As needs grow, the customer can purchase more bandwidth.
MPLS VPN is now available in 25 of US LEC's 26 switching centers
and includes Atlanta; Baltimore; Birmingham, Ala.; Charleston,
S.C.; Charlotte, N.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Fort Myers, Fla.;
Greensboro, N.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Louisville,
Ky.; Memphis, Tenn.; Miami; Mobile, Ala.; Nashville, Tenn.; New
