FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. today announced the
availability of its latest data center storage solution, the
Fujifilm Gemtrac High Density Tape Library by Russ Bassett which
can store more tapes per square foot than any other media storage
system available. Addressing the space constraints commonly faced
by data centers, Fujifilm's Gemtrac can reduce floor space up to
70% compared to open tape racks, boosting productivity, increasing
storage efficiency and reducing the overall amount of storage
needed by tape librarians.
"The amount of floor space that data centers will save is
dramatic," said Daniel Greenberg, New Product Manager, Fujifilm
Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. "One 10' wide Fujifilm Gemtrac unit
can house the same amount of tapes as one 33' row of open racks,
potentially reducing the cost of storage space, making it an ideal
solution for in-house vaulting."
Fully constructed of heavy-duty furniture grade steel, each
Fujifilm Gemtrac consists of two self contained opposing cabinets
linked by overhead tracks engineered to safely suspend heavy loads.
With a small footprint of 25ft and facing pull-out drawers, one
Gemtrac unit will store up to 4,060 LTO data cartridges stored in a
case, reducing library size which increases productivity through
simplified accessibility and minimized walking time. Furthermore,
each tape is stored in its own individual slot to ensure file
integrity and to guarantee that each cartridge is safely housed,
neatly organized and protected from dust, light and sprinkler
systems. For additional security, an optional gang lock is also
available.
In order to meet the diverse and ever changing storage needs of
data centers, Fujifilm's Gemtrac high density tape libraries also
offer flexible configuration options and can be double stacked for
maximized space and a minimized footprint.
In 2007, Russ Bassett worked exclusively with Fujifilm to design
Fujifilm's Data Tape Carousel, which is designed to store 768 LTO
data cartridges, 768 half inch cartridges or 672 DLT cartridges.
With full swivel casters underneath, the carousel can be easily
moved anywhere in the data library quickly and safely.
The Fujifilm Gemtrac High Density Tape Library is available now
through Fujifilm's channel of distributors. Configurations include
LTO, DLT, 3592, 3590, 3480 and 9x40. Starting MSRP is $15,756. For
