ESC-Taiwan ( http://www.english.taiwan.escasiaexpo.com/ ) and
EDA&T-Taiwan ( http://www.english.taiwan.edatexpo.com/ ) run
from 23-24 August at the Taipei International Convention Center.
The shows kicked off with a keynote address from Taiwan
Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's Deputy Director of Product
and Design Service Marketing Division, Corporate Development, Dr.
Kuo Wu. He discussed how to tackle today's design challenges
through collaborative ecosystems. "For 15 years, Taiwan's design
community has gathered at these important events to discover the
very latest advancements in embedded systems, electronic design
automation and test technologies," said President of Global
Sources' Electronics Business Unit, Mark A. Saunderson. "These
shows have long been regarded as the place where the industry comes
to learn -- and this year is no different with over 40 educational
sessions," Saunderson said. "The insights offered by gurus like Dr.
Wu are a catalyst for design innovation. "The shows also provide a
focused environment where engineers can see demonstrations of the
latest technology. Engineers have an opportunity to network with
peers and leading experts from international vendors including
Agilent Technologies, Atmel, Intel, Mentor Graphics, NEC, Renesas,
Spansion, TSMC, UMC and Wind River." Other top technology providers
participating include AMD, Ansoft, Avant Technology, CEVA, Faraday
Technology, Marvell Technology, Oracle, Plurality, SanDisk,
Tektronix and Trolltech among others. Atmel, Intel, Mentor
Graphics, NXP Semiconductors to Lead Technical Seminars A panel of
industry executives is scheduled to discuss the latest design
solutions and application breakthroughs at the event's technology
summits. Topics include: -- "Powering Down" -- Speakers include
executives from Cadence Design Systems, IntellaSys, Mentor
Graphics, MontaVista Software and ON Semiconductor. August 23, 3:00
p.m. -- "Winning the Race for Multimedia Quality" -- Speakers
include executives from CEVA, Faraday Technology, NXP
Semiconductors, Sunplus Technology and Trolltech. August 24, 9:00
a.m. Leading Technology Vendors to Present Breakthrough Design
Strategies The shows also feature vendor seminars, where leading
technology providers are scheduled to present their latest products
and to show how they help achieve design efficiencies. Topics
include: Embedded Systems Development, Communications and
Multimedia, Automotive Electronics, Electronic Design Automation,
Memory Design, Industrial PC, Embedded Software, Test and
Measurement and Security Design. Companies presenting include
Agilent Technologies, ARM Taiwan, Atmel, Intel, Mentor Graphics,
MIPS Technologies, National Instruments, NEC Electronics, Renesas
and Spansion, among others. New and Enhanced Design Event for 2008
In 2008 ESC-Taiwan and EDA&T-Taiwan are expected to expand
their scope to include system design, and are scheduled to be
re-launched as International IC-Taiwan Conference and Exhibition
(IIC-Taiwan). Saunderson said: "After serving Taiwan's embedded,
electronic design automation and test communities for over a
decade, this move is a logical extension into another critical and
complementary area: system-level design. "Taiwan's electronics
manufacturers are under increasing pressure to maintain their edge
in mid to high-end product design. IIC-Taiwan aims to fill that
need, showcasing systems and board-level design solutions and
technologies for this significantly large design audience."
ESC-Taiwan is sponsored by Atmel, Renesas and Wind River, while
EDA&T-Taiwan is sponsored by TSMC and UMC. The shows open from
9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both events are free to qualified attendees.
