JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS), The Supply Chain Company®, today announced the release of JDA® Logistics Procurement, an expanded transportation management offering that will be made generally available this month. Since its acquisition of i2 Technologies, Inc., on January 28, 2010, JDA has been focused on bringing together the two companies’ market-leading manufacturing, supply chain, merchandising and transportation solutions.

The JDA Logistics Procurement release is part of JDA’s post i2 acquisition product roadmap integration plan announced in April 2010. The product roadmap supports the convergence and ongoing innovation of two of the industry’s leading solutions offerings to provide customers with the most comprehensive, integrated supply chain solutions. JDA Logistics Procurement is a proven example of this combination of convergence and innovation.

Strong Execution on Integration Objectives

JDA Logistics Procurement is part of JDA’s world-class Transportation & Logistics Management solution suite featuring industry leading products developed by Manugistics and i2. These solutions offer a comprehensive planning and execution platform that helps shippers, carriers and third-party logistics providers more effectively manage the complexities of a multi-modal logistics network. i2 was positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the Leaders Quadrant of the 2010 “Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems.” In the same report, published on April 13, 2010, JDA was positioned in the Challengers Quadrant.

JDA Logistics Procurement is a superset of combined product functionality from the i2-developed JDA® Transportation Bid Collaboration converged with the contract management capabilities of JDA® Logistics Sourcing developed by Manugistics. Additionally, JDA Logistics Procurement features several net- new capabilities and flexible deployment options not found in the legacy solutions.

“Completed not only on time but ahead of schedule, the release of JDA Logistics Procurement less than one year after the i2 acquisition reinforces JDA’s commitment and ability to successfully deliver on our convergence roadmap objectives. The solution also solidifies JDA’s leading position in the transportation management solution space by providing our customers with valuable new functionality and a joint platform from which to leverage the powerful transportation synergies of our Manugistics and i2 heritage,” said Raghav Keshav, chief product officer, JDA Software.

Flexible Deployment Options

While customers have traditionally sought to leverage the bid collaboration solution in a hosted environment, JDA designed flexible deployment into JDA Logistics Procurement based on increased customer interest in leveraging an expanded solution behind their own firewalls. With JDA Logistics Procurement, customers benefit from bid collaboration, contract management and additional optimization capabilities and can choose to deploy the solution under either a software licensing or a software-as-a-service model for ease of integration.

Convergence on a Closed-Loop Approach

Going far beyond a simple product replacement strategy, JDA Logistics Procurement represents the goal of the convergence roadmap: creating a superior solution with the best combined product functionality. This integration approach enables existing JDA customers to share data between the legacy transportation bid collaboration and contract management solutions and achieve a more integrated, closed-loop set of processes for more effective results.

“Integrated planning and execution processes are critical to effective transportation and logistics management today. JDA Logistics Procurement enables key steps in the closed-loop process by laying the foundation for execution in securing rates, service levels and capacity commitments and enabling carrier collaboration to refine constraints that must be honored as execution proceeds. We are pleased to deliver this flexible superset solution to help our customers gain true optimization and closed-loop integration,” said Fabrizio Brasca, vice president, global logistics, JDA Software.

Enhanced Functionality for Better Results

In addition to the convergence of legacy bid collaboration and contract management capabilities, JDA Logistics Procurement also features several new functional enhancements designed to further streamline optimization and cost efficiencies to enable:

  • Rapid execution with seamless rate exporting of bid optimization results back into JDA’s transportation management system.
  • Cost savings on a specific portion of the overall network with easier workflow and algorithms to run smaller, more frequent bid engagements in an e-auction engagement modeling process.
  • Improved cost optimization results while allocating freight and carriers within constraint tolerances with partial bid and partial award modeling.
  • Flexible carrier multi-modal bidding and optimized mode allocations by lane with multi-mode engagement modeling.
  • Improved ability to fully satisfy network demand with enhanced diagnostics to help quickly identify and resolve any network infeasibilities.
