OD2 Announces Seven New Music Services Deals Loudeye's European
Subsidiary OD2 Launching New Services for Partners in Ireland,
Iceland, Holland and Australia; Expands Relationship with MSN and
Coca-Cola LONDON, July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Loudeye Corp.
(NASDAQ:LOUD), the worldwide leader in business-to-business digital
media solutions, today announced that its European subsidiary, OD2,
the leading business-to-business European music download
distributor, has launched with seven new retail partners and has
expanded its current music services relationship with MSN and music
promotional services with Coca-Cola. In related news today, OD2
announced a surge in activity across its retail partners in the
second quarter ending June 30th. The surge was attributable to the
launch of OD2's SonicSelector jukebox and the arrival of new
companies in the European digital music market. During Q2, OD2
launched interactive music services for 7 new retail partners,
specifically: * Ninemsn launched the "Music Club." Ninemsn is
Australia's top web destination and the music service is OD2's
first in the Asia Pacific region. * GWR launched the award winning
"Hear it Buy it Burn it" service and is OD2's first Radio Station
partner opening up a huge new sector to interactive music services.
* Tonlist launched the MusicClub. Tonlist is Iceland's top web
destination. * Ilse Media launched Download.nl. Ilse Media is a
leading online retailer in Holland. * Packard Bell launched the
"Music Station" in the UK, France & Germany. Packard Bell is
part of NEC Corporation and is OD2's first consumer electronics
manufacturing partner. * Oxfam: launched "Big Noise Music", the
World's first charity music download service and OD2's first
charity partner. * Eircom launched the "Music Club." Eircom is the
largest telecom/ISP in the Republic of Ireland and the first
retailer in the country to launch a legitimate music download site.
OD2 also substantially increased activity with existing partners.
In June, MSN extended its relationship with OD2 to cover three new
European territories -- Germany, Belgium and Spain. MSN Music,
which offers OD2's 'SonicSelector' technology, is already live in
the UK, France and Italy, and the new agreement deepens the deal by
making the service available online in Germany on June 14th,
Belgium June 24th and in Spain later this summer. MSN is Europe's
top web destination with 67.17m unique users. On July 1st Coca Cola
Austria launched an "on pack" music download promotion which goes
out on 30 million cans following the successful UK promotion run
from March through May. "Today marks an important stage in the
growth of the digital music market as we're seeing increased
download volume across existing retail partners, the expansion of
current partners' music deployments and the addition of several new
customers across new geographic regions," said Charles Grimsdale,
president and managing director of Loudeye's international business
operations. "These events illustrate consumers' growing appetite
for legitimate digital music downloads, and how this popularity
translates into valuable promotional, branding and revenue
opportunities for a wide range of companies." About Loudeye Corp.
