MatrixOne's Synchronicity Developer Suite V4.2 Provides Enhanced
Support for System-on-Chip Development, Data-Driven Project
Management, and Integrations with Leading EDA Design Tools and Open
Source Platform Support MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONEE), a leading
provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM)
solutions for the value chain(TM), today announced the availability
of the newest version of MatrixOne's Synchronicity(R) Developer
Suite(TM) solution. Developer Suite - already in use at 12 of the
top 15 semiconductor companies - provides an advanced design data
management environment that enables global, multi-site development
that can lower cycle times, increase quality and improve a
semiconductor organization's return on product development.
Developer Suite Version 4.2 provides designers with improved
performance and support for the industry's broadest range of EDA
applications and operating platforms. It includes new versions of
MatrixOne's Synchronicity DesignSync(R), MatrixOne's semiconductor
design data management platform, and MatrixOne's Synchronicity
ProjectSync(R), a project communication and collaboration
management solution. The optional MatrixOne's Hierarchical
Configuration Manager(TM) provides the industry's only true
block-based data management capability enabling hierarchical
system-on-chip (SoC) design and reuse. "The size and complexity of
new semiconductor products--such as the chips driving the next
generation of automobiles, digital music and personal
communications--and the speed at which they must be developed are
changing the way that designs and design collaboration are being
done," said John Fleming, senior vice president and general manager
of MatrixOne's electronics business unit. "These are no longer
monolithic projects. They must be divided into multiple
sub-projects, each of these actually a large complex project onto
itself. The new Developer Suite capabilities enable semiconductor
companies to take advantage of global economies of scale and
collaborative partnerships to change the way they bring these
products to market, through a highly-collaborative process that
involves their entire value chain located around the world."
Managing Complexity in Semiconductor Design The creation of
semiconductor products is an increasingly complex process, with
design size growing significantly, while development cycles are
continually shortening. To develop such products as rapidly as
possible at the lowest cost requires tight synchronization between
widely-dispersed teams spread across countries, time zones and even
companies. In such a complex environment, a single miscommunication
or data configuration error can cause a huge loss in time and
money. Developer Suite with HCM lets designers define the
hierarchical relationships between design components and provides a
simple, powerful interface to work on the entire design hierarchy.
This innovative, systems-based methodology helps minimize costly,
hard-to-detect mistakes that can occur when engineers are managing
each block's design data and can tremendously shorten and reduce
the number of design cycles. Designers, chip architects, and
project managers can ensure their actions done on a single design
block are within the context of the entire design hierarchy to
dramatically simplify the implementation of large SoC designs.
Significant enhancements to Developer Suite Version 4.2 include the
following: -- Next-generation DesignSync User Interface: Version
4.2 includes a next-generation interface with new tools to access
the capabilities of the HCM to create an intuitive, hierarchical
file structure for very large systems on chips designs. -- Broad
EDA interoperability: MatrixOne is the only semiconductor design
data management provider that offers production-level integrations
to multiple data formats from any EDA tool--even home-grown
proprietary tools. Version 4.2 now supports the latest four
releases of Cadence(R) OpenAccess, Cadence CDBA, and the latest
three releases of Synopsis(R) Milkyway(TM) database. -- Tighter
integration to data driven enterprise project management: Version
4.2 enhances the integration to MatrixOne's Program Central(TM)
application, which enables events changing in DesignSync to update
a project manager's dashboard automatically. For example, by
tagging a design "sim passed," the Simulation task will be
automatically marked complete in their project status reporting
tool, providing visibility for all project team members. --
Higher-Performing DesignSync: Enhancements to tagging and
introduction of additional multi-threaded processing provide
greater scalability and increased performance. -- Industry's
broadest platform support: The Developer Suite continues to be
supported on all major platforms including Solaris(TM), HP-UX(TM),
Windows(R), and Red Hat(TM) Linux(TM) including Red Hat Enterprise
Linux (RHEL). Version 4.2 now includes support for Solaris 10 and
leading open source platforms including RHEL 4 and SuSE(TM) 9.
Pricing and Availability Developer Suite V4.2 is available now and
is priced from $4500 per user depending on configuration. Existing
users of ProjectSync, DesignSync, DesignSync DFII and HCM with
active maintenance contracts can learn more and upgrade for free by
