Wellstone Retains Key Tobacco Chemist DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 29
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wellstone Filters (OTC:WLSF) (BULLETIN
BOARD: WLSF) announced today that it has retained Dr. John H.
Lauterbach, Ph.D., DABT, FAIC, FRSC, Certified Toxicologist,
Certified Professional Chemist, Chartered Scientist and Chartered
Chemist as a consultant and Wellstone's Chief Scientific Advisor.
Wellstone believes that the addition of Dr. Lauterbach will assist
Wellstone to further develop its formulation, to communicating its
technology to other manufacturers and will be essential in
negotiating on Wellstone's behalf. Dr. Lauterbach recently retired
after twenty-four years with the Research & Development
Department at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation. During
his tenure at B&W, Dr. Lauterbach served as Principal Scientist
in Scientific & Regulator Affairs and Director, Research
Services. From 1993 to 1998, he also served as Chairman of the
Board of the Tobacco Institute Testing Laboratory and Chairman of
the US Technical Advisory Committee to ISO Technical Committee
TC126 on Tobacco and Tobacco Products. Dr. Lauterbach is a frequent
presenter at the annual Tobacco Science Research Conferences and is
author or co-author on numerous presentations and journal articles
on tobacco science and toxicology. Wellstone believes that its
patented filter formulation removes tars and certain carcinogens,
while providing better taste. However, any claim as to the benefit
of any Wellstone cigarettes to be sold will be made within the
parameters prescribed by the Federal Trade Commission. Wellstone
emphasizes that NO cigarette is safe. This corporate communication
by Wellstone is not intended to induce any person to purchase
future Wellstone tobacco products. ABOUT THE COMPANY Wellstone
Filters, Inc. has developed and patented filter material that
removes certain carcinogens and other toxins produced when tobacco
is smoked -- without removing the compounds thought to be
associated with the pleasurable effects of smoking. Wellstone seeks
to promote material for cigarette filters that will enable major
cigarette manufacturers to provide consumers with an equally
enjoyable cigarette with substantially fewer carcinogens. For more
