Discover Financial Services (DFS) said Friday that John T. Greene has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Sept. 18.

The banking and payment-services company said Mr. Greene would succeed R. Mark Graf, who will remain with the company as an executive advisor until his retirement in early 2020. Mr. Graf announced his retirement in June.

Discover Financial said in a filing the Mr. Greene will receive an annual base salary of $700,000, as well as $1 million in restricted stock units. Mr. Green was previously financial chief of Bioverativ, which was acquired by Sanofi SA (SNY, SAN.FR) in March 2018.
