The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) has been named a 2017 Top
Employer in the United States by the Top Employers Institute.
“At Dow, cultivating our people and fostering workplaces that
encourage collaboration and innovation are important keys to our
success,” said Andrew Liveris, Dow’s chairman and chief executive
officer. “We are honored to receive this certification in the
United States from the Top Employers Institute.”
Dow is receiving this recognition for the first time in the
United States and is one of only a handful of companies to achieve
Top Employer status in 2017, having shown best-in-class human
resources practices and excellence in employee work environment.
Key areas that influenced Dow’s Top Employer designation include
strong policies regarding inclusion and diversity, benefits and
compensation, learning and development, leadership, and workplace
culture.
“Dow people are at the core of who we are and what we do. This
certification by the Top Employers Institute is a recognition of
our strategy to drive efforts that create value for our employees,”
said Johanna Soderstrom, chief human resources officer and
corporate vice president.
The U.S. recognition nicely compliments recently announced
certifications achieved in other countries. Dow also received 2017
Certification as a Top Employer in China, United Kingdom, Saudi
Arabia, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Greece, Turkey, United Arab
Emirates, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Since 1991, the Top Employers Institute has recognized Top
Employers around the world using proprietary methodology to
maintain certification objectivity, independence and selectivity.
The first step in the certification process is participation in the
HR Best Practices Survey: A comprehensive analysis of the Human
Resources environment, based on nine different topics and over 600
HR practices. The evaluation process includes a critical review of
answers and documents provided, a third-party audit on processes
and data, and the rating of performance scores against an
international standard. The certification is awarded to
organizations that achieve the highest standards of excellence, as
verified through this comprehensive review.
