Macy’s pays homage to the “Year of the Goat” throughout the month at select stores nationwide

This February, Macy’s (NYSE:M) stores nationwide will celebrate Lunar New Year 2015 with a grand salute to kindness and prosperity. During a series of educational activities and special events, Macy’s will commemorate the “Year of the Goat” through theatre, art, song, prose and cuisine presentations emphasizing this year’s characteristics which inspire peace and trust.

Family-friendly Lunar New Year-themed events will take place in select stores across the country including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii and New York from Feb. 14 through Feb. 21. These events will feature traditional activities ranging from Lion Dance and instrumental performances to fashion shows, authentic refreshments and live music. In addition, with any $50 purchase during the event, attendees will receive an Alex Woo™ Year of the Goat charm as a free gift and have the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition Macy’s Lunar New Year tote for $10 (with the qualifying purchase, while supplies last*).

As part of the continuing “My Macy’s” initiative that provides locally-relevant merchandise to specific communities, nearly 50 stores nationwide will once again partake in the festivities by offering an increased selection of Lunar New Year-themed merchandise. Red and black color palettes will be very prominent among handbags, assorted leather goods and intimate apparel. Also, special-edition cosmetics packaging in red and gold, Lunar New Year-branded gift cards and red envelopes and specially-designed fashion jewelry in 32 styles offer the perfect gift assortment for any “Year of the Goat” celebration. This special collection of hand-picked gifts will also be available online at www.macys.com/lunar.

Macy’s Lunar New Year festivities will also include local advertising and window display dedications, as well as comprehensive tourism outreach detailing shopping trips and events for travelers visiting from China during the holiday.
