Extension of Marks & Spencer Contract
Christian Salvesen PLC ("Christian Salvesen" or the "Group"), the European
logistics company, is pleased to announce the extension of its contract with
Marks and Spencer Group plc ("Marks and Spencer") for the provision of services
to Marks and Spencer's general merchandising operations.
Christian Salvesen already operates three purpose-built UK regional
distribution centres (RDCs) for Marks and Spencer, handling a wide range of
non-food products as well as managing significant food contracts. Under the new
contract, Christian Salvesen will manage these sites for a further five years.
The award follows a wide-ranging review by Marks and Spencer aimed at
optimising the management of its supply chain, and involving an extensive
competitive tender process.
Edward Roderick, Chief Executive of Christian Salvesen, said:-
"Marks and Spencer is one of our most important customers, with whom we have
worked closely for 25 years. The fact that they have extended our role in their
UK supply chain management for a further five years is a very important success
for Christian Salvesen, and illustrates the quality and value of the service
that we can offer."
Christian Salvesen currently owns two out of the three RDCs it operates for
Marks and Spencer. As part of the agreement, it is anticipated that these will
be acquired by Marks and Spencer, resulting in a cash inflow to Christian
Salvesen.
