PR Newswire (Canada)
TORONTO, Aug. 5 /CNW/ -- TORONTO, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - Tonbridge Power
Inc. (TSXV-TBZ), ("Tonbridge Power" or the "Company"), 100%
controlling shareholder of the Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. ("MATL")
transmission line project is very pleased to provide the following
construction update. Over the last four weeks, MATL and its main
engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Rocky
Mountain Contractors (RMC), have been continuing to stage the
equipment, supplies and obtain final local clearances for the
erection of transmission poles and the stringing of conductor
cable. This week, on August 4, 2010, the Company gave the go ahead
to the EPC contractor to begin pole and line construction.
Materials are arriving, are generally staged at two locations in
Montana and Alberta, and construction is ramping up. It will take
approximately 5 weeks for the heavy machinery and 100 man labor
crews to congregate in the vicinity just north of the Marias
substation at which point the team will be in full force working
northwards towards the Canadian border. This first section of the
route spans 40 miles and during the 24 week time frame that it is
expected the RMC crews will be working this section, they will have
installed 228 structures, approximately 6 per mile. Between Marias
and the Canadian border roughly 74% of the poles will be steel
monopoles, the remainder wooden H-frame. This fall, the crews will
begin pole insertion and stringing in Canada starting at the border
and moving north. Once the Canadian elements are finished, the team
will move back to Marias, MT and complete the portion south to
Great Falls, MT. This construction go-ahead is in addition to the
announcement at the Tonbridge Power annual general meeting, held
June 29th, when the order to begin construction of the Marias MT
substation was given. Since then much of the groundwork for its
foundation has been completed with heavy machinery currently very
active on the 10 acre site. Over the next several weeks, concrete
will be poured which will allow for steel & equipment to begin
to be installed beginning 4th Quarter 2010. One of MATL's other
substations, located at Lethbridge Alta, is slated to begin
construction in mid August to meet permit requirements. Tonbridge
