TAIPEI--Taiwanese personal computer maker Acer Inc. (2353.TW) Monday unveiled tablets and other PCs that run on a preview version of Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) upcoming Windows 8 operating system.

The Windows 8-based tablets, laptops and desktops that Acer showed at a press conference ahead of Tuesday's official opening of the Computex trade show are all equipped with touch-screen-capable displays.

Acer Corporate President Jim Wong said at the press conference that Windows 8 is "the most important Windows innovation" for the PC industry.
