International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Tuesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.5% to 154.76. The European index increased 0.8% to 146.97. The Asian index fell 0.05% to 184.53. The Latin American index rose 1.9% to 199.89 and the emerging markets index increased 0.2% to 309.93.

Royal KPN NV and Deutsche Lufthansa AG were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

ADRs of Royal KPN increased 2.2% after the Dutch telecommunications operator reported a 21% rise in fourth-quarter net profit that beat forecasts. The company also said it has started a new 300 million-euro ($326 million) share buyback program.

ADRs of Deutsche Lufthansa increased 1.5% after the German carrier said that Brussels Airlines' Chief Executive Peter Gerber will step down from his role and leave the group.
