EVSO: Texas Governmental Entities Receive Energy Efficiency Funds for Projects
April 06 2010 - 8:03AM
Business Wire
Management of Evolution Solar Corp. (PinkSheets: EVSO) announced
that they are attempting to position the Company to benefit from
millions of dollars in energy efficiency stimulus funds that were
just awarded to public entities throughout Texas – and the Company
has learned that millions of more dollars are on the way. Much of
this money should result in numerous solar projects in Texas.
Texas governmental entities will be issuing bids for
energy-related contract work very shortly. There will be varied
types of opportunities, and many will be focused on alternative
fuel, traffic signalization, building efficiency, retrofits and
solar panels.
The Comptroller’s State Energy Conservation Office, which
administers the traffic signal and alternative fuel programs, is
notifying awardees who will receive $52 million from the
Distributed Renewable Energy Technology Program.
“Once again, Texas is making solid moves to expand the state’s
alternative energy resources,” stated Robert Hines, President of
EVSO. “This recent round of generous funding proves that they are
committed to the effort.”
Evolution Solar is currently building a solar demonstration site
in partnership with Texas Southern University, to be located at the
University’s Houston Campus. The project should help Evolution
Solar acquire new projects in a sector that is growing to compete
in the energy industry, which contains First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR),
BP (NYSE: BP), Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE: VLO) and Trina
Solar (NYSE: TSL).
