GoSolarUSA (Stock Ticker:GSLO) announced today that the company
will initiate a feasibility study for developing the Volt Solar
Charger for use with smartphones manufactured by HTC, BlackBerry,
Samsung and other top brands.

The Volt Solar Charger is a renewable-energy battery pack that
attaches to the Apple iPhone and extends the device’s talk time
using a built-in solar panel and a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery.
The initial manufacturing run of the Volt is compatible with the
iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. With the Volt’s first production
run complete, GSLO will turn its focus to adding more smartphones
to that list.
“The iPhone was the obvious choice around which to develop the
Volt, and we plan to continue producing Volt Solar Chargers for
future models that Apple designs,” said GSLO President and CEO
Tyson Rohde. “The smartphone market in the U.S. is growing and
diversifying every day, so we feel it’s time to study the potential
for solar accessories made for the other top handsets being sold,
as well.”
GoSolarUSA will study the economic and technological feasibility
of designing Volt Solar Chargers compatible with smartphones such
as the HTC Desire, Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, Nokia C7 and others,
Rohde said.
“We’ll be comparing things like projected development cost vs.
upside profit potential for these smartphone accessories,” he said.
“The potential price point, market size, functionality, and
ergonomics will all be points of consideration for future
development of the Volt.”
GoSolarUSA is dedicated to aggressively acquiring, developing
and marketing promising and potentially profitable technology. The
Volt Solar Charger is a product of Xiamen Solar Electronics based
in Xiamen, China. The iPhone is a product of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:
AAPL), which competes in the global mobile electronics market
against Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MMI) and Research
in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM).
