Presstek Reports Successful drupa 2004 -- Presstek raises the bar
with new technology at drupa -- HUDSON, N.H., May 25
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Presstek, Inc. , a leading manufacturer
and marketer of environmentally responsible high tech digital
imaging solutions for the graphic arts and laser imaging markets,
today announced that it exceeded its business and strategic
objectives during drupa 2004, the world's largest international
trade exhibition for the printing and publishing industry, which
was held from May 6th to 19th in Dusseldorf, Germany. Exhibiting
its new breakthrough imaging and plate technologies, Presstek took
advantage of the drupa venue to raise the bar in the printing and
graphic arts markets. A host of new CTP and DI products featuring
Presstek's newest ProFire Excel, SureFire and ProSpot imaging
technologies, and utilizing Presstek's new ProFire Digital, Anthem
and Applause plate products, were seen throughout the show at drupa
2004. Presstek's President and Chief Executive Officer Edward J.
Marino said, "We worked closely with our dealer network and
partners to create a strong customer focus at drupa, where we
exceeded our goals. Strong sales efforts by Presstek and its
partners, together with our dealers' local market knowledge,
resulted in over 100 new customer commitments for Presstek enabled
CTP and DI products. These efforts also provided an expanded sales
pipeline for our new products, which we look forward to pursuing as
the year progresses." Marino continued, "In addition, the drupa
venue provided us with a terrific opportunity to showcase
Presstek's strategic technological and environmental leadership
with the diverse international customer and media audience that
attended the event." Presstek's new Dimension Excel CTP system was
demonstrated with chemistry- free Anthem plates and process-free
Applause plates on several stands throughout the show. Visitors
were impressed by the environmental friendliness of Presstek's
products, as well as the small footprint and streamlined operation
of Presstek's CTP solutions -- no chemistry, no gumming, and no
baking. The new A.B. Dick Vector TX52 was one of the hottest new
products at drupa. An affordably priced, two-page metal plate CTP
system designed for smaller commercial printing operations, the
Vector TX52 utilizes Presstek's new SureFire imaging technology and
chemistry-free Freedom plates. A.B. Dick's Vice President of
Marketing, Scott MacKenzie, said, "We are thrilled by the
industry's positive reaction to the Vector TX52. Our drupa results
exceeded expectations -- validating the market's need for a cost
effective, chemistry-free, metal CTP solution and confirming our
belief that the Vector TX52 will have wide appeal." Presstek's
partners KBA, Kodak Polychrome Graphics and Ryobi all featured DI
presses, enabled by Presstek's new ProFire Excel imaging technology
and using ProFire Digital Media, on their stands at drupa.
Heidelberg also featured its enhanced Quickmaster DI Pro press
using Presstek's new ProSpot imaging technology. These exciting DI
presses set a new standard in quality and ease of use for digital
offset printing. With a push of a button these highly automated
presses deliver superior quality 300 line screen printing and
support for stochastic (FM), conventional (AM), and hybrid
screening technologies. Presstek's General Manager of On-Press
Imaging Peter Bouchard reported, "DI press demonstrations at the
show were packed, and attendees were impressed by the ease of use
and exceptional quality delivered by the new DI presses. With the
push of a button, 300-line screen printing is now easily produced
on the new ProFire Excel enabled presses. We believe the ease with
which these new presses produce high quality output will set new
standards of expectation from print buyers worldwide. In addition,
the newly announced entry level DI presses have now made DI
technology and its advantages affordable for an expanded range of
customers." Bouchard continued, "Our partners' sales activity and
dedication to the successful launch of these new products has been
tremendous. We believe the DI press has now become a mainstream
product, and that the interest shown at drupa 2004 may lead to an
even higher level of acceptance for the DI press." For the last ten
years, drupa has been a key launching pad for new technologies and
products from Presstek. Visitors to Drupa 1995 saw the launch of
the Quickmaster DI, and the Ryobi 3404DI was announced at drupa
2000. These on-press imaging systems are based on the optimization
of Presstek-manufactured laser imaging and plate media systems,
which work together with the press to deliver high quality output
and push button ease of use. Today there are thousands of
Presstek-enabled DI presses installed around the world. At drupa
2000, Presstek announced the industry's first chemistry- free
thermal CTP plate, and today Presstek has hundreds of installations
worldwide that are capitalizing on the benefits of its
chemistry-free workflow. About Presstek Presstek, Inc. is a leading
