Presstek Announces First Worldwide Installation of New ProFire
Excel DI Press HUDSON, N.H., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Presstek, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRST), a leading developer of digital laser
imaging and chemistry-free plate technologies for the printing and
graphic arts industries, today announces the first worldwide
installation of the new 46 Karat Plus digital offset press, at Wana
Printing in the Czech Republic, a family owned design agency
located in the center of Prague. The new 46 Karat Plus, which is
enabled by Presstek's ProFire Excel Imaging and ProFire Digital
Media, debuted at drupa 2004, generating a great deal of interest
among show attendees. Mr. Milan Marencak, Owner of Wana Printing,
was particularly impressed by the 46 Karat Plus' high level of
automation and exceptional print quality. After evaluating other
choices he was convinced that the DI press was a perfect match for
his company. Prior to the purchase of the 46 Karat Plus Wana
Printing outsourced all of their printing. Within the first week of
installation, Wana began full print production, creating high
quality four-color work using stochastic screening for customers in
the computer gaming and software industries, as well as in the
entertainment marketplace. By bringing printing capabilities in
house Wana Printing can now better manage their workflow from
design to print and ensure to their customers that quality will be
guaranteed throughout the entire production process. The creative
department can have more time to design when necessary and the
agency has more flexibility in meeting the tight deadlines of their
clients. Mr. Marencak comments, "We brought printing in house to
create new business opportunities for our company. The 46 Karat
Plus has quickly developed into a viable profit center for us -- we
are not only printing for our existing design customers but also
actively marketing our new print capabilities. This has brought new
customers into our shop that we can now tell about our creative
capabilities." Marencak adds, "Because of the 46 Karat Plus' high
level of automation and 'push button' operation it is the perfect
solution for us, allowing us to produce high-quality four color
offset printing." Presstek's General Manager for On-Press Imaging,
Peter Bouchard, says, "The combination of quality and ease of use
of the new ProFire Excel enabled DI presses is unmatched in the
industry today. It is these attributes that we believe are changing
the way printers and print buyers think about offset printing. We
are seeing a renewed excitement in DI since the introduction of
this high productivity press and the new entry-level press at drupa
2004, and believe that these new presses will help broaden the
market for digital offset printing." About Presstek Presstek, Inc.
