French media conglomerate Vivendi SA (VIV.FR) is interested in
buying Polish broadcaster TVN SA (TVN.WA), Vivendi's supervisory
board chairman tells daily Rzeczpospolita Monday.
"It seems like everybody already knows we're taking part in this
process," Jean-Rene Fourtou is quoted as saying. "We're thinking
about creating a consortium, in which we would very much like to
see a Polish partner or partners with a lot of experience in the
Polish market and a good understanding of the Polish
realities."
Polish entertainment group ITI Holdings SA said in July it was
considering selling its entire 56% stake in TVN, worth about 2.76
billion zlotys ($834 million) at current market prices.
Three bidders remain in the process--Time Warner Inc. (TWX),
Vivendi and RTL Group SA (RTL.BT)--Rzeczpospolita reports. ITI will
pick the buyer in mid-October, after parliamentary elections set
for Oct. 9, the daily says, citing a person familiar with the
process.
