France Telecom (FTE) and SFR, the telecoms operator division of Vivendi (VIVEF), said Tuesday they have signed an agreement for the deployment of optical fiber networks outside very densely-populated areas of France.

MAIN FACTS:

- The two operators want to avoid network overlaps as they deploy their optic fiber networks in France.

- The 11 million households outside very dense areas that are covered by the fiber deployment plans drawn-up by France Telecom-Orange and SFR include 9.8 million where both operators have redundant deployment projects.

- Under the agreement, SFR will serve 2.3 million of these households and France Telecom-Orange will serve 7.5 million.
